"We all know that this
is what God would want us to do. Hospitality is a core value for people of all
faiths. Though people of faith may disagree on many things, we loving God
through serving our neighbors is at the heart of all our faiths. This is exactly
the opportunity that SPIHN provides for us. Many of our churches have classrooms
that remain empty six days a week. It is simply good stewardship of what God has
given us to offer those rooms to families who don't have a place to sleep at
night. When our congregation hosted, we saw some beautiful things happen.
Stereotypes were broken down, and the guests became our friends."
"When I met Warren, I
was surprised. I went up to the Church expecting to have no fun but then had a
blast! I felt they were no different than us on the outside and inside. Playing
with Warren made me feel good, because he probably needed a friend and because
he was so fun to be with. He even went to my Upward Basketball banquet with me.
I liked meeting him very much!"
"My experience working
at SPIHN that evening, night, and next morning was the most humbling experience
of my life. Our guests were such warm, caring people and the children were
precious. Although there were several families staying with us, they worked
together as one big family, taking care of each other; sharing communal
responsibilities, and in general showing Christian compassion and love for each
other. While we provided the "home," meals and other necessities for them, they
created the atmosphere among themselves. I cherish this experience." "I don't know what I
would have done if someone hadn't told me about the Greenville Hospitality
Network. I guess the family would have had to split up. The Hospitality Network
saved by family."
